Hajimemashita!

Please return soon and often. Eventually, there will be Japan related/inspired artwork as well. .

Some of these pictures might take a few seconds to load, since I scanned them at a higher resolution.

Japan...hopefully, these pictures and the ones to come will say more than my words. These pictures will always be a friendly reminder to me that this wasn't just some weird dream that I had! Interestingly enough, I had purchased a book about Kanji script 2 weeks before receiving a phone call that eventually led to me working here.

There was no real "culture shock," for me. Aside from things feeling a little more crowded than the average Colorado resident might be used to, and aside from the basic language barrier (for me), there isn't really a lot of difference. The people are generally a lot more pleasant here than people have generally been in my past experiences. Standards, folks. As for the overall feel, I'm in the Tokyo area, so maybe that's why it has such a "western," air. The language barrier is slowly disappearing. I'm learning basic Kanji and the Katakana alphabet. It seems I deal more with Katakana than Hiragana.

Right now, I'm just placing the images on this page. I'll eventually link the pages to explanations.

The coolest part about being here is not so much the "touristy" things that usually comprise any nation's best face forward, but rather, the average, daily events and everyday people. I've already met many interesting people, some of whom might be a part of my future for a long time to come.
