The Corrs

It's difficult for me to say, "I have a favorite group," but this sibling band from Ireland has gone from being non-existent on my list to being one of my all time favorites! My first experience with this band occurred while I was watching a PBS special. As always, PBS saves its best shows for the fundraising period. I had no idea who the featured group was, but I did see three beautiful ladies dressed in black slinky outfits -- one hammering away at the drums -- and a guy performing a song that caught my ear as well. I'm always looking to expand my musical discoveries, and sure enough, this new (to me) group caught my interest.

As I learned, these were the Corrs, and they were promoting a special version of their second album, Talk On Corners. I was especially intrigued when I heard them perform their rendition of  "Dreams" by Fleetwood Mac! I think a member of Fleetwood Mac participated in this performance.

I bought the Corrs debut release and enjoyed that immensely. I recently purchased their third regular album and found it to be incredibly enjoyable albeit a bit off from what one might expect, based on their earlier (the first) album. A few of the songs from the new release (In Blue) come across like Shania Twain songs, but...the Corrs could adopt any style and create a masterpiece, should they desire. I think everyone should listen to the work of this group, one of Europe's best exports. Unfortunately, I've never been able to attend any of their concerts, but I can say that they've sounded better on their television appearances than they do on the cd! Not too many groups can do that. Seeing them perform is also better because their lead singer, the youngest member of the group, has an untouchable delivery and unmatchable voice that can only be appreciated live.
